The music industry has been hit hard in recent years, especially the Reggae industry. I agree, music is not what it once where and a lot that is released (regardless of it’s genre) is not worth supporting. However, don’t extend that lack of support to those who still releases good music. While passion and an desire to make good music still gotta triumph over the desire to make money artists are persons just like the rest of us, they need money to pay their bills and put food on their tables.
I’m not going to lie, I download mp3’s just like everyone else and I love “free” stuff but I try to do it responsibly, if I hear something good that is commercially available I often go and buy it within a few months time. Now, I also have to say this and let all artists out there know one thing as well; There is a lot of us old-school music fans out there who would never ever pay for digital downloads, if you don’t get your stuff out there on physical media you’re going too loose a customer base who are much more likely to pay for their music than these young folks who strictly deal with mp3’s.
Well, I don’t want to make this a long, long rant so let me try and finish things up. I got the albums on the photo above the other day, on vinyl and it just made me think of how important it is that us fans act responsibly in these times of “free music”. The album with “Protoje” especially impressed me, that is intelligent and well thought out music I’m proud to say I have purchased and own.
